Ernest Hemingway: He was deeply inspired by the city of Ronda , which influenced his books about Spain, including For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Sun Also Rises. His legacy is honoured in Ronda with a bust and a promenade in his name.
James Joyce: Referenced Ronda’s picturesque charm in the closing lines of his novel Ulysses, highlighting its romantic and vibrant atmosphere.
Orson Welles: Fascinated by Spanish culture, Welles had a profound connection to Ronda, forming friendships with bullfighters like Antonio Ordóñez. He requested to have his ashes interred on Ordóñez’s property near Ronda. A bust and a promenade also commemorate him in the city.
Rainer Maria Rilke: The German poet stayed in Ronda in 1912, where he overcame a creative block at the Hotel Reina Victoria. He wrote The Spanish Trilogy, marking a significant period in his literary career.
